David McKay
David Moser McKay
David Moser McKay is an Instructor, in Theory, Composition, and Music Technology at Belmont University. A composer, arranger, jazz pianist, and publisher, his commercial credits include McDonald’s, Wendy’s, AT&T, American Standard, General Electric, Proctor & Gamble, Uniroyal, Sears, and the Environmental Protection Agency. His film and TV scores include the Lion of Judah (Paramount Pictures), The Story of Joash, Issac and Rebakah, and the recent documentary, Such Were Some of You. He has appeared, recorded, and collaborated with a number of internationally acclaimed artists including Maranatha Praise Band, Amy Grant, Randy Cox, Derric Johnson, Jim Gilbert, Ron Kenoly, Leann, and Carl Albrecht, Lynn DeShazo, and Denyce Graves.
David is the leader and founder of the smooth jazz group Quad Venti (available on iTunes). His choral/orchestral music is distributed by J. W. Pepper and published by Two Davids Music. His anthems are published by Oxford University Press, LifeWay, Word Music Now, St. James Music Press, Art Masters Studios Inc. (Lorenz), Belden Street Music, and earthsongs.
He holds a Master of Music degree in Composition from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory (CCM), a Bachelor of Music in Composition, Literature, Theory, and Piano from Heidelberg University, and an Associate in Theology degree from Florida Beacon Bible College. A composition student of Lukas Foss, Paul Palombo, and Norman Dinerstein, McKay won the BMI Awards to Student Composers for Piano Concerto in 1976.
